A living miracle. A shepherd with a new heart.
Father Luc Philogène is chaplain of the Haitian Catholic community in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, serving the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Washington, Notre Dame des Douleurs in Takoma Park, and Sainte Camélus in Silver Spring, Maryland.
In February 2022 he was rushed to Washington Hospital Center. By June his own heart was failing. Placed on the transplant list on June 16, he received a new heart on the feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Help — patroness of Haiti and of his priestly ordination class. Ten days later, he walked out of the hospital.
"I was ready for the final journey if it was God's will." — Father Luc
Jericho 2026 is the next step of the mission born from that miracle: a gathering to lift up our people in worship, break down every wall of despair, and send thousands home with a new heart of their own.
